Vitiligo

Vitiligo is a chronic autoimmune skin disorder characterized by the destruction of melanocytes, the cells responsible for pigment production. This results in white patches of skin appearing on different parts of the body. The condition can affect any age group, and while not physically harmful, it can cause significant psychological distress. The exact cause remains unclear, but genetic factors and immune dysfunction are believed to contribute.
Symptoms:
- White patches of skin, often symmetrical
- Premature graying of hair
- Increased sensitivity to sun exposure
