Brooke Walterscheid, MD, FAAD, Dermatologist
About Me
Dr. Brooke Walterscheid is a board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon specializing in skin cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment, as well as cosmetic dermatology. Combining surgical expertise and an artful eye with a compassionate, patient-centered approach, she is dedicated to helping patients achieve healthy skin with personalized, evidence-based care.
A native North Texan, Dr. Walterscheid grew up in nearby Muenster and attended Texas Tech University Honors College, where she earned early acceptance to medical school. During her medical training, she served as Student Body President at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and was appointed by the Governor of Texas to the Texas Tech University System Board of Regents as Student Regent. She also holds an MBA from the Rawls College of Business.
Dr. Walterscheid completed her dermatology residency at Texas Tech University, ultimately serving as Chief Resident. While training at the region’s only academic medical center, she gained extensive experience diagnosing and treating skin cancers while caring for patients throughout rural West Texas. She also received advanced training in cosmetic dermatology, including injectables, laser treatments, and other aesthetic procedures.
She then completed a prestigious Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology Fellowship at Cleveland Clinic, where she developed specialized expertise in treating complex, high-risk, and rare skin cancers. Her fellowship also included advanced reconstructive surgery, focused on restoring function while preserving patients’ natural features.
Inspired by her rural upbringing and training, Dr. Walterscheid is passionate about expanding access to exceptional dermatologic care for patients of all backgrounds. In addition to skin cancer treatment, she enjoys caring for patients with chronic skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, acne, and rosacea, helping them improve both their skin health and quality of life.
Dr. Walterscheid is thrilled to be back home in North Texas with her husband. Outside the office, she enjoys spending time with family, staying active, traveling, exploring the DFW food scene, and expressing her creativity through drawing and painting.
