Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS)

Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS) is a chronic inflammatory skin condition affecting hair follicles and sweat glands, resulting in painful nodules, abscesses, and tunnels beneath the skin. It primarily occurs in friction-prone areas like the armpits, groin, buttocks, and under the breasts. HS often progresses in three stages and can cause extensive scarring and recurrent infections if untreated. It is linked to genetics, obesity, metabolic syndrome, and smoking.
Symptoms:
- Painful lumps, nodules, or abscesses under the skin
- Tunnels (sinus tracts) forming beneath affected areas
- Chronic inflammation and scarring
